Dear Friends,
We all know the drill: We tell you we don't want anything except your presence, and you nod politely and get us a gift anyway.
Here's the thing, we truly don't desire anything but your presence. The only reason we didn't elope is because we wanted to share this day with you. The time and money you're spending just to travel here is the most meaningful gift you can give us.
If you can't bring yourself to come empty-handed here's a suggestion: write us a letter. Caleb's family has a tradition of giving the child a book of letters from their family and friends on their 18th birthday. We would love to create something similar for our marriage. So would you bring a note for us to the reception? It could be anything: a fond memory, a reason you put up with us, what we mean to you, a beloved book passage or verse, a piece of advice or a prayer that you have for our future, or a sketch, a poem, or a song. Anything, really. :) It can be as long as a small book or as short as a heart scrawled on a sticky note.
